Three million baby cups recalled due to mould

Three million Tommee Tippee baby cups have been recalled following increasing concerns that they are contributing to child illness, as a result of mould accumulating in the cups’ valves.

Following a number of shared posts on social media from concerned parents, along with 70 children reportedly falling ill, the company has taken action.

The mould appears to accumulate in a hidden area of the valve, which means it goes unnoticed by parents. Children has since become ill with symptoms such as diarrhoea and vomiting.

Tommee Tippee has stated: “We’d like to assure you that children health and wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do, and we’re taking the current concerns around our Sippee cups very seriously. We sell millions of Sippee cups globally but we know from recent social media posts, that some people have had problems cleaning the vale. For this we sincerely apologise and we are actively following up on concerns raised.”

The recall has affected: First Sips Transition cup, Trainer Suppee cup, Sippee cup (including Cute Quips), Sportee bottle and Insulated Swiggle/Sippee tumblers.
