Red Book to become digitised

The ‘Red Book’ given to parents to monitor their child’s health following birth, is becoming digitised.

The initial digital version of the book, termed eRedBook, is being made available across four London areas this month. A national roll out will follow, with the aim of all areas being digitised by 2020.

The eRed Book allows healthcare professionals and parents to have improved sharing of information, such a height and growth logs, immunisations and other developmental data.

The Head of Public Health Commission for NHS England, Kenny Gibson, spoke at the Govconnect Early Years 2017 conference on children’s health recently, and stated that “It’s our role to begin offering every parent the opportunity of launching the electronic version of the red book. We know since the red book was launched by Harlow printing and the red book board, parents love the red book.”
