RCOG publish paper on Cord Clamping

Published on: 10/03/2015

A new Scientific Impact Paper published by RCOG supports delayed cord clamping (immediate cord clamping is defined as within 30 seconds of the birth and deferred cord clamping means not until at least 2 minutes after birth) in healthy full term babies.

The paper states that immediate cord clamping reduces the flow of blood to the baby and can deprive the baby of iron. Iron deficiency in the first few months is associated with neurodevelopmental delay.
