MAMA Academy’s Festival Season Guide: Top Tips for Being Pregnant at a Festival

Published on: 21/08/2025

1. Comfort is Queen: Choose Your Festival Base Wisely

If you’re camping, look for quiet or family-friendly campsites. They’re usually less rowdy at night, which means better sleep for you (and your bump).

-Pack smart: an inflatable mattress, supportive pillows, and extra blankets can make all the difference.
-Not keen on camping? Many festivals now offer “glamping” options with comfier beds, or even day passes so you can head home when you’ve had enough.

2. Protect Your Ears

Festivals are loud, and while your baby is protected in the womb, the noise can still feel overwhelming for you.

-Bring earplugs or noise-cancelling headphones to soften the sound.
-Scope out chill-out zones or quieter areas when you need a break from the bass.

 3. Hydrate Like a Headliner

Between dancing, sunshine, and walking between stages, it’s easy to get dehydrated.

-Bring a refillable water bottle (most festivals have free water points marked on a map).
-Sip regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Staying hydrated helps with energy, swelling, and keeping you and your baby healthy.

 4. Rest When You Need To

Festivals are a marathon, not a sprint. And pregnancy is the best reason to listen to your body.

-Don’t be afraid to sit down often, consider packing a foldable camping chair or picnic blanket.
-If you’re tired, it’s absolutely fine to tap out early and head back to camp (or home). The headliners will still be on YouTube tomorrow.

5. Festival Food with a Baby Bump

Festival food can be delicious, but it’s worth being cautious.

-Stick to freshly cooked, piping hot meals.

-Avoid foods that may carry higher risks in pregnancy, like unpasteurised cheese or undercooked meats.

-Pack some safe snacks (fruit, cereal bars, crackers) so you’re never caught short.

6. Footwear > Fashion

Yes, glittery sandals are cute. But mud, rain, and swollen feet are less so.

-Opt for comfortable, supportive shoes or wellies.
-Bring extra socks to keep your feet dry (nothing ruins the vibe like soggy toes).

7. Prioritise Your Safety

Festivals can get crowded, so it’s important to look after yourself.

-Stay on the edges of big crowds to avoid jostling.
-Bring a high-vis marker (like a flag) for your tent so you can find your way easily.
-Let friends know your limits,  you don’t need to be in the mosh pit to prove you’re still fun.

Being pregnant doesn’t mean saying goodbye to summer fun, it just means doing it your way. Remember: it’s totally okay to leave early, skip camping, and swap cider for mocktails. The most important thing is that you (and your bump) enjoy the festival safely. From all of us at MAMA Academy, have a magical, music-filled festival season and don’t forget the glitter (biodegradable, of course).
