MAMA Academy is proud to support 1001 Critical Days

MAMA Academy is proud to be supporting 1001 Critical Days, the cross party manifesto highlighting the importance of early intervention for children. Armed with knowledge of the effects that early intervention can have, numerous charities and organisations are joining forces to help implement key factors of the manifesto.

New studies have found that the first 1001 days, from conception to the age of two, are crucial for brain development and the effects of adult interaction during this time can have long lasting impacts. The manifesto aims to ensure that every baby receives the same care and support across the UK. The goal is to make ante, peri and postnatal services accessible to all and to improve the services to ensure standards are met. Midwives, health visitors, GPs and Children’s Centres are all at the focus of the new plans, and women with additional needs can also expect to receive further support for their families.

During pregnancy and in the first 24 months of life, rapid brain development takes place and this needs to be supported. Those who do not receive adequate care and support are known to fall behind quickly, and face problems in catching up to peers later on. The manifesto also aims to reduce instances of abuse and neglect by ensuring that all children are equally supported and able to access quality services when needed.

MAMA Academy aims to continue to empower women during their pregnancies, and to work closely with the Royal College of Midwives to ensure up to date information is to hand at all times. We’re committed to providing education and support to all mums to be and pledge to support the 1001 days manifesto to ensure all babies have the best start in life.
