Wellbeing wallets rolled out in Bradford

Published on: 17/10/2017

Expectant mothers in Bradford are to receive our MAMA Academy wellbeing wallets. The wallets are full of helpful advice and tips for pregnant women, such as when to contact your maternity unit if you are concerned about your baby, foods to avoid and much more.

6000 wallets, which is a year’s supply, have been given to Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust by Our Angels – a Harrogate based charity that supports bereaved families.

Sara Keogh the Head of Midwifery at the Trust said she was overwhelmed by the donation from the charity, which has already given wallets to other trusts in the region.

Chris Binnie, trustee of Our Angels also stressed the importance of the wallets. “Our Angels are so proud to be able to provide a year’s supply of these life-saving pregnancy wallets to all expectant mums in Bradford, Harrogate, York and Scarborough. Whilst it is hugely important to us to support and improve care for parents dealing with a loss, it’s also incredibly important to us to try and save babies’ lives in the first place. We’re really excited about the positive impact these wallets will have on stillbirth rates in these three trusts over the next year.’

Heidi Eldridge, CEO of MAMA Academy, said “We are thrilled to see the huge impact our Wellbeing Wallets have had on reducing baby loss throughout the UK over the past couple of years and are therefore thrilled that York NHS Trust are working with us to help save more babies lives. We are overwhelmed by the generosity of Our Angels, for funding them, to empower more parents with safer pregnancy information to give their babies the best chance of arriving safely”.
