#stillBORN Campaign - Riley's Story

Published on: 07/04/2017

My name is Amy Fortune, I’m 22 years old and a grieving mother of a little girl.
In February 2016 I found out I was pregnant. I was so happy I couldn’t hold my excitement! Throughout my pregnancy I had no problems and was rarely sick. I was blessed!
When I was 35 weeks pregnant, on the 27th of September I couldn’t feel any movement and I thought it was due to walking quite a lot. Just to be safe I went to the Maternity Ward and that night I found out my baby girl Riley had died at 35 weeks. This was the worst day of my life. I looked at my boyfriend and I could see the tears falling from his eyes when the midwife and doctor said there’s no longer a heartbeat.
On the 1st of October I had been induced and Riley was born sleeping on the 3rd of October. Although this was a heartbreaking time, I’m glad I got to hold and kiss my baby girl for hours before we buried her a few days later. Seeing my boyfriend hold our daughter was so beautiful but so heartbreaking knowing we can never hold her again after we bury her.

February 2017 we got the Autopsy results back and nothing came up abnormal. As far as the doctors and I are aware, Riley was a healthy 5Ilbs 12oz baby born on the 3rd October at 11:13pm. A month before she was due. R.I.P baby girl. Please give mammy and daddy a healthy, live rainbow baby xxx

I want my story to be shared as awareness so that if any woman doesn’t feel movement or doesn’t feel right please go get checked! Thank you
