Respected midwifery lecturer killed in shark attack

A respected nursing and midwifery lecturer from Perth’s Edith Cowan University, has been killed in a shark attack in Western Australia.

 

Doreen Collyer, 60, is from Chester, Cheshire originally, and emigrated to Australia five years ago. She was the second shark attack victim in recent days in the area, and had been diving just off Mindarie marina on Sunday 5 June 2016, when she was sadly killed.

 

The Guardian report comments that she was a “much-loved and respected colleague, mentor and teacher”.
