NICE preterm birth guidelines

Published on: 21/06/2015

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) have this months opened up their draft guidelines on management and prevention of pre-term birth for consultation by stakeholders.  It is hoped that the completed guidelines will be published by November this year.

Dr Manish Gupta, Co-Chair of the RCOG Guidelines Committee said:

“The NICE guideline will offer a comprehensive picture for healthcare professionals on the best way to provide treatment for women who present with symptoms and signs or preterm labour. It will also review how preterm birth can be optimally diagnosed in symptomatic women, given that many women thought to be in preterm labour on clinical assessment will not deliver prematurely.”
