NICE guidelines on Intrapartum care updated

The NICE guidelines for intrapartum care of healthy women and babies have recently been updated.

The guidelines specifically relate to caring for healthy women and their babies, during labour and immediately following birth who give birth at ‘term’ – 37 to 42 weeks. The new updates touch on issues of informed choice for the place of birth, as well as reducing variation in care in regards to fetal monitoring during labour.  Following a review in February of evidence relating to the measuring and monitoring of fetal heart rates as part of an initial assessment and during labour.
