MIDIRS launches #ItsAllAbout video campaign

This year’s International Day of the Midwife is being marked with a video campaign by MIDIRS in a bid to highlight important work being done to reduce maternal and infant mortality. The film, entitled It’s all About,  is due to launch on 5th May and is expected to show midwives, students and mothers talking about what midwifery means to them, and to celebrate midwifery around the world.

Despite innovative technology and resources, maternal and newborn mortality rates remain high across the globe, and more work is needed to ensure the figures begin to drop. The role that midwives play in delivering timely care and support to mums and babies is crucial, and the video campaign intends to portray this. And with news that the global birth rate is set to remain at a constant level until at least 2030, experts say that even more investment into midwifery care is needed.

The video will launch with an online campaign and social media networks are being encouraged to get behind the #ItsAllAbout hashtag to raise awareness of the important work of midwives around the world.
