The parents of three children who lost their lives in the devastating MH17 plane tragedy, have welcomed another baby into their family – a daughter, named Violet May, born on Tuesday 10th May 2016.

Australian couple, Anthony Maslin and Marite Norris, experienced extreme heartbreak when their three young children, Evie, Mo and Otis Maslin, were tragically killed along with their grandfather when the plane that they were travelling on was struck by a missile over Ukraine. The plane was travelling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur on 17th July 2014. All 298 people onboard were killed.

In a statement released by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the parents shared what it means to them to welcome Violet after the loss of their three children “Violet’s birth is a testament to our belief that love is stronger than hate. We still live with pain, but Violet, and the knowledge that all four kids are with us always, brings light to our darkness”. They added “We will continue to love all four of our children equally. Violet brings some hope and joy for us. We hope she brings hope and joy for you, too.”
Welcome to the family, Violet May!
