Miles For MAMA
Why not support MAMA Academy and get fit at the same time? Sounds pretty good right? Enjoy some healthy exercise and help us save more babies’ lives by taking on your own Miles For MAMA challenge!
If you are interested in helping us reduce baby loss while pushing yourself to improve your own fitness, regardless of your current ability, set yourself a target to achieve and we’ll support you every step of the way. You can choose to run, walk, swim or cycle your miles, or any combination of these, to reach the total number of miles you set for yourself. You can take one month, or six months, do 50 or 1000 miles – it’s entirely up to you to push yourself as much as you want to. Everyone will have their own reasons for doing it, and we’d love to hear yours.

Any money you raise through sponsorship for your Miles For MAMA challenge will help us in our work to ensure more babies arrive safely. It could make a huge difference!
Start your challenge whenever is convenient for you. You’ll need to keep track of your miles covered – we’ve previously used an app called Map My Fitness to measure distance for walks and runs, but there are lots available. You can count miles covered by walking, running, cycling (indoor or outdoor!) or swimming so there is something for everyone.
Spread the word!
Throughout the duration of your challenge, social media will be key to spreading awareness of the work of MAMA Academy and of #Miles4MAMA itself. Please use the hashtag as freely as you would like to share your blog posts, brag about a brilliant run, or keep us all updated on your mile count. We will always be ready to give words of encouragement when you need them. Perhaps you’ll be using the challenge as a means to lose some baby weight or get back to fitness after some time off, so hopefully your challenge will be as beneficial to you as it will be to us!
You can set up your own fundraising page on Virgin Money Giving or BT My Donate and share the link with friends and family. You can also download a traditional sponsor form if you find that easier, maybe to collect donations from work colleagues, and send the money raised in to us after you have completed your challenge. Head on over to our shop to grab yourself an official MAMA running t-shirt to wear during your workouts and fly the Team MAMA colours!
It will never be too late to join in – you can start your challenge at any time. If you already have a place to take part in any race events, you can also fundraise for MAMA – just contact us to join the team. Every little really does help!
